TIPS FOR JUNIOR DEVELOPERS

Elevate Your Coding Journey: Tips for Junior Developers!

  • Be prepared: Take a look at your tasks for the week and take action as early as possible Read through the tasks, try to understand the problem, and ask for clarification if needed. Don’t show up to meetings late and unprepared! Get there early, get comfortable, and make sure you’re caught up on everything.
  • Master Git: You’re going to use it, and you’re going to make mistakes, so take some time to master it. It’s a fundamental skill for developers but sometimes gets overlooked.
  • Mentorship: Look for a mentor. A mentor doesn’t need to be in your current field or company; it can be anyone. In fact, it shouldn’t be someone in your company, since you should be getting unbiased advice. Although it can be anyone, you may notice that many developers would love to share their knowledge and experiences with you. Whether it’s someone you know personally or not, don’t be afraid to ask anyone.
  • Ask questions sometimes. When you were younger, your teachers might have told you that there were no wrong questions; well, they lied. Don’t bother your team with every little question that comes up. Try to solve them yourself, and if you get stuck, then start asking for help.
  • Continuous learning: The world of tech is always changing, and the tools used today may not be the tools used tomorrow. There are a ton of great tools out there nowadays that help junior developers. Things like linting and formatters are godsends and must-haves now.

Remember, every coding journey is unique. Embrace challenges, celebrate victories, and enjoy the learning adventure!
